James Scott Smith, age 50 of Spring Lake, formerly of Erwin, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at his home. He was born August 10, 1968 in Harnett County to the late James Malcolm Smith and the late Pearl Jackson Smith. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Linda Sue Smith. Scott was a United States Veteran who proudly served his country in the Navy. He was a Registered Nurse with the VA Hospital in Fayetteville. Scott was a very intelligent person, he went to college and had obtained a Master’s Degree in Nursing and was currently working on his doctorate degree. If he wasn’t studying, he enjoyed watching television or playing with his beloved pets. Scott always enjoyed a meal with Aunt Shelly. He truly enjoyed helping people and spending time with his family and friends. He was loved by all his coworker and will truly be missed.
Scott leaves behind to mourn his passing, his sister, La Rue Smith of Erwin; nephew: Matthew Smith and niece: Michelle Johnson.
A funeral service to commemorate the life of James Scott Smith will be conducted on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of Colliers Chapel Church with Rev. Johnny Haney and Rev. Everett Faircloth officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Colliers Chapel Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
