Donald was born in Harnett County, NC on September 22, 1955. His parents Iva Mae West and step-father Glenwood West, along with two, brothers Michael Johnson and Randy Johnson preceded him in death.
Donald was a loving, kind-hearted, selfless man quick to help to anyone in need.
Music was a true passion of his, he could beat the strings off of a guitar. Donald played lead guitar and was lead singer for “The Hobo Junction Band” for many years. He loved sharing his musical talents with everyone.
Donald was a true family man, a workaholic, he hung Drywall for over 50 years, always doing something, just loved tinkering around his shop. A true outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish.
Donald was the best Daddy & his grandchildren were that evident sparkle in his eyes.
Donald leaves to cherish is memories is his loving wife of almost 49 years, Nancy Walker Johnson, of Erwin, NC; a daughter, Crystal Johnson, of Dunn, NC, a son, Keith Johnson (Elizabeth Cruz), of Raeford, NC; a brother, Scott West (Christy), of Dunn, NC; three grandchildren, Nathan Davis, Madison Davis(Samuel Strickland), and Preston Johnson, and one great-granddaughter, Everleigh Mae Strickland.
On Saturday, March 30, 2024 visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home.
A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don McCorquodale, Adam Coats, & Larry Walker officiating.
