Bobby Julius Turlington

Bobby Julius Turlington, aged 94, of Erwin, North Carolina, passed away on November 18, 2024. Born on November 15, 1930, in Harnett County, NC, he was the son of the late Archibald Lee Turlington and Julia Isabelle Johnson Turlington.

Bobby's early life was marked by responsibility and resilience, as he became the man of the house at just 14 years old, leading him to leave school to support his family. Despite these early challenges, he found his passion in life, becoming a lifetime crane operator.

Bobby was not only known for his professional skills but also for his love of flying, both teaching and piloting himself. His love for music was evident as he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing with the Old Time Gospel Singers.

A simple man at heart, Bobby cherished a good old home-cooked meal and the company of his family and friends. He was a devoted member of Erwin Chapel Church, where he was actively involved in the community.

He was preceded in death by his father, Archibald Lee Turlington; mother, Julia Isabelle Johnson Turlington; son, Bobby Turlington; brothers, Ralph Lee Turlington and Lee Coleman Turlington; and sisters, Eloise Turlington Gregory, Kathleen Turlington Bowden, and Margaret Turlington Gregory.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Sandra Frost Turlington, of the home; daughter-in-law, Wanda Turlington, of Benson, NC; grandchildren, Varisha Thorton and husband Mike of Dunn, NC, Jenifer Hill and husband Christopher, of Benson, NC, and Sherrie Hill and husband Cliff, of Dunn, NC; great-grandchildren, Gunner Thorton, Dustin Fisher, Ariana Holland, Lane Holland, and Trey Holland.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Erwin Chapel Church.

Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church. Burial immediately afterward at Erwin Memorial Cemetery.

His legacy of resilience, passion, and love for his family and community will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
