Ana Beatriz Zuniga, also known to many as Betty, was 90 years old when she passed away May 16th, 2012. She lived in Clearwater, Florida in a community called Casa Miguel. She suffered from congestive heart and kidney failure. She passed peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday morning at a beautiful Hospice community service center in Palm Harbor, Florida.
She was born on May 19th, 1921 in Bogotá, Colombia. She was raised by her mother Rosa Roncancio and stepfather Pablo Villamil. She was married to her husband Hector Zuniga on January 20th 1943 in a church known as La Iglesia De La Porciuncula in Bogotá, Colombia. She was a homemaker and a loving mother to her son Hector Zuniga and daughter Gladys Vargas.
In 1998, she moved to Clearwater, Florida to be closer to her family. She became a US Citizen in April of 2011. She was very excited and looking forward to voting for the first time in November this year. She was baptized and raised in the Roman Catholic Church and continued to be a devout Catholic all her life. She was a parishioner of St. Michaels the Archangel Catholic Church and attended mass every Sunday. She very much enjoyed attending her weekly prayer group. Her favorite pastimes included dancing, sewing, assembling jigsaw puzzles, playing cards and bingo. When Betty wasn’t doing those activities, she enjoyed shopping and going out to lunch with her friends and family.
Ana Beatriz will be forever remembered by her Husband, Hector Zuniga Sr. of 69 years, her son Hector Zuniga Jr. and spouse Luz Marina Zuniga and her daughter Gladys Vargas and spouse Angel Eduardo Vargas, her grandchildren Christian Vargas, Alexandra Davis and Jennifer Vargas, and her great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Andrew Davis.
Ana Beatriz touched many lives with her contagious smile. She was always joyful, friendly and gracious. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Thank you to everyone for expressing their condolences and support in this difficult time. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church, located at 2281 State Road 580, Clearwater, Florida 33763. Mass will be given by Father Gregg Tottle. Moss Feaster of Dunedin will be handling the arrangements. The family requests all donations be made to The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) Kindred Spirits Program in honor of Ana Beatriz. She always loved dogs and would have been happy to know she was helping animals.

Ana Beatriz Zúñiga, también conocida por muchos como Betty, tenía 90 años de edad cuando falleció la mañana del 16 de mayo 2012 en Palm Harbor, Florida. Beatriz vivía en Clearwater, Florida, con su esposo Hector Zúñiga en una comunidad llamada Casa Miguel.
Ana Beatriz nació el 19 de mayo de 1921 en Bogotá, Colombia. Fue criada por su madre, Rosa Roncancio y Pablo Villamil esposo de esta. El 20 de enero de 1943 se caso con Hector Zúñiga en la Iglesia de la Porciúncula, en Bogotá, Colombia.
En 1998, se mudó en compañía de su esposo a Tampa, Florida para estar más cerca de su familia. Desde entonces se vinculo a la iglesia católica San Miguel de Arcángel en Clearwater, Florida. Era ama de casa, devota a la religión católica y madre cariñosa a sus hijos Héctor Zúñiga y Gladys Vargas.
En abril del 2011 se convirtió en ciudadana de los Estados Unidos y estaba muy orgullosa de poder votar por primera vez en este país. Algunos de sus pasatiempos favoritos incluyeron asistir semanalmente a un grupo de oración de la iglesia, bailar, coser, leer, armar rompecabezas, jugar cartas, bingo, ir de compras y salir a almorzar con sus amigos y familiares.
Ana Beatriz será siempre recordada de manera muy especial por su esposo, hijos, nuera, yerno, nietos y bisnietos. Su sonrisa contagiosa impacto muchas vidas de un modo alegre, cariñoso y amable por lo que sus familiares y amigos la extrañaran siempre.
Se realizara una misa en su memoria el Sábado, 26 de mayo 2012 a las 11:00 de la mañana en la Iglesia Católica San Miguel de Arcángel ubicada en la 2281 State Road 580, Clearwater, Florida 33763. La misa será oficiada por el Padre Gregg Tottle.
Debido al amor que le tenía a los animales y a petición de la familia, las personas que deseen hacer donaciones por favor háganlo a la Sociedad Protectora de Animales de Estados Unidos (HSUS) en su honor.
