A life lived fully. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Geoffrey Evans on November 24, 2009 at the Henderson General Hospital in Hamilton. Geoff was the much loved husband of Valerie, father of Timothy (Joanne), Amanda (Robert Litchfield) and Diane Hourigan, stepfather to Robert (Valerie) Henschel and Karey (Bradley) Henschel. He was proud of all his grandchildren and step-grandchildren; Jeremy, Maddison, Rebecca, Scott, Hannah, Meghan, Claire, Steven, Eric and Michael. Geoff left this life with a deep gratitude for the opportunities bestowed upon him. He valued his family, his friends, his co-workers and those he taught. He appreciated the faith and trust of the many people he helped during the 37 years he practiced medicine. Geoff brought humour to every situation. He loved life and all the people he met along the way. Anyone who knew Geoff can attest to his enjoyment of a fine single malt scotch, his love of dogs, his ability to make the best roast potatoes and the fact that he owned a lot of clocks. Perhaps most importantly, Geoff could always be counted to share a laugh, a story or offer advice and to always be there when it really mattered. The family is thankful for the care and kindness provided by the staff at the Henderson and General Hospitals. Geoff was comforted knowing he was in good hands. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 195 King Street West, Dundas. A Celebration of Geoff’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 30th at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit (E3) at the Henderson General Hospital.
