In the loving arms of Jesus. Erika was called home to be with her Saviour on Monday, July 30, 2012. Wife of the late Berthold Wolski (1996), mother of Bernie and Annette (Alan). Loving Omi to Abigail, Jacob and Nathan, sister of Helmut (Ursula) and Herbert (Erika) both of Müncheberg, Germany. Erika was born in Müncheberg on November 22, 1925 to Erich and Ida Prüss. After surviving the difficult years of WWII, she moved to Lüneberg, Germany. Erika moved to Winnipeg in 1952 where she was active in McDermont Baptist Church, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school for many years. Erika took a road trip to Ontario in 1966 and was introduced to a handsome young man. After a year of telephone calls and letters she returned to Hamilton to marry Berthold on September 16, 1967. They moved to Copetown where they raised their family on their “stück vom paradies.” Mama and omi will always be remembered for her unconditional love for her kids and grandchildren, her hard work and great debates. A woman of prayer, she was an avid reader and gardener, and made some of the best turkey dinners, gingerbread cookies and Schwartzwälder Kirschtorte in the world. She is already missed by family and friends in Germany and across North America. Friends may call at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 195 King Street West, Dundas on Monday, August 6, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. A Graveside Service (all are welcome) will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Copetown Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at Mission Baptist Church, 100 North Oval, Hamilton at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bibles for Missions, Dundas would be appreciated.
