Derek Wayne Gonzales, age 57, was born in Dallas, Texas on October 10, 1961, and passed away May 15, 2019, following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Amilio and Petra Gonzales, Matias and Francis Becerra, and his father Abel Gonzales. Derek is survived by his mother Lydia Gonzales and stepfather Enrique Astran, brother Steve, and sister- in-law Beth, nieces Lauren Cummings (Micah) and Rebecca Fechner (Chris). Derek was also survived by numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends, all of whose lives he touched.
Derek was a graduate of Duncanville High School. He worked in the video production industry for many years giving him the opportunity to meet many interesting people. His favorite pastimes were movies, music, video games and he loved spending time with his family and friends.
