Frances Bigham

January 23, 1950 – May 15, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Frances Bigham 73, announces her peaceful passing in Duncan BC on Monday May 15, 2023.

Frances is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert, sons James (Miranda) and Shane (Tina) and her brother Howard and family. Frances will be dearly missed by all.

Frances was born in Medicine Hat, AB January 23, 1950, daughter to Ernie and Marian Paulson, sister to Howard. She moved to Victoria BC at a very young as, growing up in Saanich and graduating from Mt. Doug High in 1968.

Frances first met Robert in 1967, they married in 1969 and started their family in 1972. Frances and Robert moved around the province for his work at BCFP. Starting in Youbou in 1971, then to Mackenzie in 1978 and Pitt Meadows in 1983. Frances worked on timekeeping in Mackenzie Pulp Mill.

They lived in Port Knells from 1995 to 2008 where Robert worked for Mitsui Homes before retiring to Duncan. Frances worked for BC Liquor stores in the Langley area during some of this time and then in Duncan.

Frances loved casino gambling, so she was at Chances Cowichan often. Here she made a number of friends and acquaintances. She liked to travel to Reno and Las Vegas for the games and a few shows. The early trips to Reno was to accompany her father.

Our family would like to thank the nursing staff (Ellen) and Doctor (Dr. McInytre) at VGH who provided Frances with comfort during her brief stay in hospital.

By request, no service will be held. A private gathering of family will be held at a later date.
