With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Aunt, Mother-in-Law, and Friend, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Mom will be dearly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters; Sharon Desorcy and Connie (Allan) Kaufmann; grandchildren Kara (Owen) Harrison, Cody (Grace) Desorcy and Abbra (Padraigh) Kaufmann and Sarah Kaufmann; sisters Mary Betker and Jennie Krizak; sister-in-law Shirley Augustine; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anne was born in Pobedim, Czechoslovakia, and immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1937. Anne grew up on the family farm in Arondale, and attended a 1 room schoolhouse with her siblings. She enjoyed going to dances in Monominto where she met dad.
In 1954, Anne married her soulmate, Louis. They settled on the Augustine family farm, where they raised their three girls, Sharon, Bonnie & Connie. Mom remained living in the same farmhouse for more than 60 years.
Mom was a friendly and outgoing woman and loved hosting family get-togethers at the farm. She opened her home and heart to everyone she knew.
Mom enjoyed an active life of golfing, gardening, camping, and globe-trotting. Mom was known for her excellent baking and sewing creations. Her cottage cheese buns and kolach were all time favourites, but everything she made was delicious.
Anne was an active member of the Dufresne Women’s Institute for over 50 years and was so happy when she found the Cedar Women’s Institute. When dad had his first heart attack at a young age, mom decided she should get a job. She started working at the Salisbury House at Deacon’s Corner, where she worked for several years as the Assistant Manager, until retiring at age 60.
In 2016, Mom moved to Ladysmith, BC, to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren, whom she adored. Above all, she led a life devoted to Christ.
Anne was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Louis; daughter Bonnie; sons-in-law Guy Desorcy and Dennis Marcoux ; parents Anthony and Josephine Krizak; sisters Jolana Dusik, Lydia Watson, Josie Cole, and infant Frantiska; brothers Joe Krizak and infant Frantisek; in-laws Stefan and Alzbeta Augustin ; nephews Tony and Eric; niece Monica; sisters-in-law Mary, Agata, Betty, Anne, Francis, Vera, Audrey Krizak; brothers-in-law Al Watson, Arnie Betker, Robert Rasmussen, Wayne Cole, Jerry Dusik ; Rudy, Michel, Joe, Steve, Emil, and Earl Augustine.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2024, by Father Mel Bayron at St. Mary’s Parish in Ladysmith, BC. Her final resting place will be at the Garden of Crucifixion, Green Acres Cemetery in Winnipeg, MB.
A special thank you to all the caring and compassionate homecare support and nurses who cared for Mom over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, we ask that friends donate to Chalice, a catholic organization that mom has supported over many years, sponsoring several children.
“We love you, Mom, and you are deeply missed, but we rejoice that you’re finally reunited with Dad and Bonnie in Heaven”.
