She was born December 25, 1916 in Duluth, to Oscar and Ebba Engstrom. Violet attended Duluth Central High School and on April 20, 1940, she married Archie J. Thibault.
Violet was a founder and past president of the Miller Dwan Auxiliary and was presented with a life membership to the auxiliary after 28 years of volunteering. At the age of 90 she was still doing volunteer work at St. Luke’s Hospital. Violet was a Sunday school teacher and member of the Leah Circle at First Lutheran Church. Violet was nominated for Duluth Woman of the Year. She was also a member of the David Wisted American Legion Post and the V.F.W.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Archie on May 4, 1992; a great-great-grandchild; her parents; a brother, Rudy and her sister, Bernice Branting.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Dianna), of Oklahoma, Roger (Celeste), of Nevada, Diane Ritchie, of Duluth and Claudia Grenier, of Superior; eight grandchildren, Robert Thibault, Jr., Melinda Thibault, Roger Thibault, Jr., Andrew Thibault, Matthew Thibault, Joshua Grenier, Christopher Grenier and Timothy Grenier; Three great-grandchildren, Madison, Alyna , and Elaine; her brother, Arthur (Marilyn), of Michigan; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Barbara Hemenway, St. Luke’s Hospice and Rev Tab Baumgartner for the loving care and consideration they gave to Violet. They would also like to thank everyone at First Lutheran Church for their concern and prayers and all Violets friends at the S-Elect Apartments.
Visitation from 10:00am until the 11:00am Funeral Service Saturday, April 26th in the Jarvi Dowd Funeral Chapel, 925 E. 4th Street. Burial will be Monday at Forest Hill Cemetery.
