Lorraine J. Mell

Lorraine was born in Duluth to Alfred and Gertrude Johnson, growing up in the Central Hillside. She graduated from Central High School.

Lorraine married Gordon Mell and they raised three children in the Duluth Heights area. Lorraine was a charter and active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, participating in circles, Sunday School and altar guild. She was dedicated to her family, friends and church. If there was an event planned she would be the first there and the last to go. She loved her family & friends!

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; son, David; brothers, Art, Trig, Lester Johnson; and sister, Gerda Dembick.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Dale (Carol) Mell of Alborn; daughter, Diane (Ron) Osborne of Duluth; grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer, Laura, Heather, Todd, Rhonda, and Chad; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-laws, Betty and Linda; sister-in-laws, Marian Braff, Lois Phelps, Margaret Mell; lifelong friend, Miriam Peterson and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista for the kindness and care of Lorraine.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 410 N. Arlington Ave. on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
