Lorna Jean Nelson

Lorna Jean Nelson, 100, of Duluth passed away peacefully Sunday September25, 2016 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Facility. Lorna was born on January 18, 1916 to Harris and Julia Ulsrud in Superior.

Lorna was the oldest active member at Forbes United Methodist Church in Proctor where she served in many leadership and service positions. Lorna’s family would like to thank her church family at Forbes for the outpouring of love, and many acts of kindness shown to her, especially the last several months as her health issues became more serious.

The family would also like to express their appreciation to the caregivers at Edgewood who provided Lorna with such excellent care during the last several months.

Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; brothers, Charles and Harry; and sister, Jane Bennett.

She is survived by her sons, Glen (Sandi) and Bruce (Kathy); daughters, Karen (Ed) Jennings and Nancy (Ron) Johnson. She is also survived by her brother, Glen; and sisters, Virginia Talafous, Carol Vaughan, and sister in law, Agnes Ulsrud; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Visitation: 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday September 29, 2016 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 North 56th Ave. West, Duluth. The visitation will continue from 10: 00 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service Friday September 30, 2016 at Forbes United Methodist Church, 33 Grove Street, Proctor.
