Janice Rae Erickson

Jan was born in Duluth, MN on July 12, 1951 to Anthony Vekich and Phyllis (Colberg) (Vekich) Werner.

She graduated from Floodwood High School in 1969. She worked as a Dietician at the Franciscan Health Center formally Surf and Sands, on Park Point for the past 40 years. She was also an active member of the United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1189.

Jan will be remembered for her dedication to work and the generosity and time given to the many families and staff that have been a part of the Franciscan Health Center family over the many years of her service. Some of Jan’s best qualities were her quick wit and being able to lift the spirits of others. Where ever she was, work or home, she made people around her part of the family. She will be missed dearly by us all and remembered with a smile if not a laugh here and there.

She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony; sister, JoAnne (Vekich) (Pickett) Ottum; brother, Dennis Werner and her favorite aunt, Marjorie McManus.

She is survived by her son, Nicholas Erickson of Mesa AZ; mother, Phyllis Werner of Duluth, MN; brothers, Donald Werner of Phoenix, AZ, James Werner of Fort Collins, CO, William (Lorri) Werner of Cloquet, MN; sister, Patricia Werner of Duluth, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Jan’s name can be sent to Franciscan Health Center, 3910 Minnesota Ave, Duluth MN 55802.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, Duluth.
