Fern E. (Zaiser) Wiski, 96, of Duluth, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012 in Brooklyn Park. Fern was born to Robert and Anna (Johnson) Zaiser on April 20, 1916. She married her high school sweetheart, Walter Wiski, and they enjoyed 69 years of happiness together.
Fern graduated from Denfeld High School in 1935. She attended the Duluth Beauty School and worked as a beautician at Charm Beauty Salon and Glass Block Beauty Salon. She also conducted demos for Meadow Gold Dairy Products.
Fern was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and active in many circles and programs. She was involved in PTA for junior and senior high, active in cub and boy scouts, the League of Women Voters, Drifttoppers Snow Mobile Club, Chester Park Ski Club, Duluth Police Auxiliary, and Lionels Club.
Fern loved camping and traveling. She visited every state except Alaska. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time with beloved family. After retirement she spent winters in Florida, Texas, and Arizona, traveling by trailer and motor home. Uff da! What a wonderful life!
Fern is preceded in death by her husband, Walter; sons, Donn and Roger; daughter in law, Suzette Olive; and sister, Ann Zaiser.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Allison Wiski, Bret (Angela) Wiski, Erik Wiski, and Laura Wiski; great grandsons, Rhys Wiski and MacLane Wiski; and daughters in law, Toni Dahl-Wiski and Shawn Wiski. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th Ave. W., at 1 p.m. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Interment at Oneota Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to assist in reconstruction of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4441 Grand Ave., Duluth.
