Faye Florence (Nenadich) Green, 65, passed from this life to join her beloved husband, Lance, and her parents on July 23, 2012 at Solvay Hospice house with her daughter and sister by her side. She was born in Chisholm, MN to Sam and Florence (Flossie Lucas) Nenadich on April 15, 1947.
She attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Chisholm Senior High School in 1965. She met the love of her life, Lance R. Green, and they were married on August 13, 1966. Together they raised three children: Lance Jr., Derek and Hilaire.
After beginning their life together in the Twin Cities, Faye and Lance returned to northern Minnesota to live in Duluth. Faye was active in numerous community organizations including WADSO, Duluth Playhouse, Newcomer’s Club, Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, Congdon and Ordean PTA, Duluth East Parent Advisory Board, UMD Blueline Auxiliary, Duluth Mothers of Twins/Twin Ports Mothers of Multiples, and the Junior League of Duluth. In 1988 she was appointed by Governor Perpich to serve on the Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors. Most recently, she was the Ecumen Lakeshore liaison to the Lakeshore Auxiliary.
Family was the foundation of her life and was evident through her devotion to them. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Faye found pure and simple happiness in her grandchildren. She believed that her true calling was to provide support, love and care and to make people happy. She was truly blessed that this was fulfilled in home and work life. We were blessed by Faye’s genuine, warm, ever-present smile, even in the most difficult of times.
Faye was tremendously creative and enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, reading and music. Her love of music, instilled by her parents, provided many a song for any occasion. Life events were captured in thousands of photos she took over the years. She felt at peace, sitting on “Lance’s Bench” gazing at Lake Superior.
She worked for several attorneys, HDC, Kohl’s, several Miller Mall jewelry stores, Simon Property Group and lastly, “The Best Job She Ever Had”- Ecumen Lakeshore as Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator. There was never a day she didn’t want to go to “work” at Lakeshore.
She was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Flossie Nenadich, husband Lance on June 30, 2002, Lance’s parents David and Juanita “Mike” Green, and granddaughter Angela.
Faye is survived by her sons, Lance (Bobbi Hayes), his children Kyle and Sarah, and their mother Mary Green. Derek (Heather) and their children Gunnar and Samm and her daughter Hilaire Hauer (Brett) and their children Elise and Brynne. She is also survived by her sister and friend, Sue Magoon, aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as Rick and Missey Hayko and their children, Joe and Kelly Biondi and their children, the Vallie and Glenn families, and a large community of loyal friends.
Especially important to her during her journey were a group of friends that Faye referred to as her “Chemo” sabes. These included Lillie Kari, Joanne Liimatta, Courtney King, Carmine Bambenek, Annie Stead, Jana Warner, Judy Olson, Colleen Arras Michaelson, Mary Chapman and Joyce Foster. She was humbled that you called her “Hero.”
Sincere gratitude to Drs. Igwe, Koberstein, Downs, Friday and Tonkin, the wonderful Infusion, Oncology and Hospice staff and volunteers at Essentia Health and the precious staff and volunteers at Solvay Hospice House.
