She was born October 18, 1914 to David and Ada Marion Hammerquist in Windemere Township.
Dorothy married Gunnard Forsberg on November 11, 1939. Raising nine children and caring for her father kept her very busy. She was a member of Salem Covenant Church for 74 years and her deep Christian faith gave her strength and serenity. Her life revolved around her faith and family. She will be missed by all for her serenity, cheery voice, the twinkle in her eye, her “can do” attitude and willingness to help, and her calm, positive disposition. We were very privileged to have her for 98 years. We will find comfort in the companionship of each other as we cherish the memories of Mom’s legacy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gunnard, in 1967, sister, Mildred, brothers Marvin and Durv. She is survived by all of her nine children: Janet (Thomas) Blexrud, Gloria (John) Sullivan, Alyce (Charles) Gubelmann, Edith (Vernon) Close, James Forsberg, Shirley (Roger) Peacock, Marjorie (Daniel) Granmoe, Phyllis (Kevin) Pederson, Irene (Donald) Velo, and her brothers Fred “Bob” (Donna) Hammerquist and Reynold “Nino” Hammerquist, 22 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and our “brother and sister” Kevin and Lorraine Kellermann.
“An attitude so precious that it becomes a virtue is a gentle and constant equality of temper. What an unutterable charm does it give to the society (family and friends) of a person who possesses it! How is it possible to avoid loving her whom we always find with serenity on her brow and a smile on her countenance?”
