Thomas R. Fletcher was born on March 26, 1939, and died on August 25, 2022. He was the sixth child of Harry R. and Exie M. Fletcher who predeceased him along with brothers William, John, and Edward Fletcher, and sisters, Jean Farr and Virginia Nunemacher. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Chlois, and the two sons they raised, Matthew T. Fletcher (Colleen), and Fletcher R. Farr (Damaris); along with six grandchildren, Ajani, Logan, Lauren, Matt (Amy), Megan, and Maison, and one great grandchild, Abigail. Tom lived his life in Columbus, Worthington, and Dublin. He enjoyed many trips to Naples, Florida where they maintained a second residence. He enjoyed designing and building houses for the family completing four such opportunities as well as some great traveling, landscaping, and music. He graduated from North High School and earned a Bachelor and Master’s degrees from The Ohio State University. He spent his professional life of over 50 years in education. While with the Columbus schools, he was a teacher, principal, supervisor of instruction, and executive director of middle and high schools. A highlight was the development of the alternative program at Monroe for which he earned the Freedoms Foundation Award. At Bexley, with the support of staff, Bexley Middle School became an award winning school. Upon his first retirement, he became an adjunct professor at Otterbein University. Then he became the director of curriculum and instruction at the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow. He devoted his life to the creation of effective school experiences for students and was most respected for the ability to nurture growth and talent in those with whom he worked. Tom was a member of Worthington Chapter #287 O.E.S. New England Lodge #4, F&AM, The Aladdin Shrine, past president of the Shrine Band, and member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Columbus Court #8. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, from 10:00am-11:30am at the Indian Run United Methodist Church, 6305 Brand Road, Dublin, Ohio. Services will follow at the Indian Run Church 11:30am. Rev. Lynn Pease officiating. Burial will follow at the Lithopolis Cemetery, Lithopolis, Ohio.
