Ruth Anne was a graduate of Pickerington High School where she was the Homecoming Queen. She then went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics from Ohio University. Or as she always joked, her MRS degree as that is where she met John. She was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority at Ohio University.
Ruth and John were married while John was in the Air Force, stationed in Tucson, Arizona. Shortly after, John was transferred to Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. While in Fairbanks, Ruth taught at the elementary school. After John’s tour with the Air Force, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where John started his career with GE. After spending a few years in Bellevue, Ohio, with GE, they moved to Solon, Ohio. While in Solon, she was a teacher in the Solon School District. And finally, when John retired from GE, they moved to Dublin, Ohio, where there three daughters and grandchildren lived.
She was a talented seamstress, floral and craft artist, celebrated for her exquisite creations. Her family has many memories of spending countless hours going through pattern books at JOANN Fabric; she made many outfits for the family. Her journey in crafting began when her children were young, exploring techniques like Mod Podge and embracing the charm of Holly Hobbie. She cherished shopping at her favorite store, Pat Catans, with her family and grandchildren, where she found inspiration and joy. Through her thriving floral and wedding business, she cultivated a loyal following that admired her exceptional designs and craftsmanship.
She always looked forward to the annual trips to Sanibel with all the family in spring after the long Ohio winters. She was an avid sheller who would get up at the crack of dawn to go shelling. She had a knack for always finding the best shells on the beach.
She loved hosting family and friends. Holiday family gathers would be a group of 25+ that she would starting cooking for at 5:00 AM. She was a great cook, whose stuffing will be missed at Thanksgiving! The meals would end with a family game of PIT or Apples to Apples. She was an accomplished Bridge player too. When they moved to Dublin, she joined a Bunco group and she always looked forward to their monthly game nights.
Her family was most important to her, she was a devoted, wife, mom, grandmother (Gma) and great grandmother (great Gma). She was a gracious sweet woman who was loved by all who knew her. She lived her life by the “Golden Rule,” treat others as you would want to be treated. She was the leader of our tribe, life will never be the same without her, she will be greatly missed!
In lieu of flowers that family is asking that donations be made to either OhioHealth Kobacker Hospice or the Parkinson Foundation.
