Norma A. Sharpnack, age 95, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord at the home of her son, July 22, 2024. Norma was born May 2, 1929 in Great Bend, Ohio, to the late Clarence W. and Della Myrtle Proffitt. As a child of the depression and a farming family, she learned her work ethic early and how to be frugal. After graduating from high school, she later relocated to Columbus, Ohio. She married Jack Sharpnack, Jr. on New Years Eve, 1954. They enjoyed 55 years together until his passing July 20, 2010. They had two children, Cathy Sue (Steven) Chamberlain and Jackie Sharpnack. She was a full time mother and homemaker. Her house was spotless, yard weed free and had a home cooked meal on the table every evening. She loved flowers, both indoor and outdoor. She fought back after a severe stroke in 2009 and was able to dote on her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her late dog, Nellie Belle. She moved to Marysville, Ohio in 2020 to be closer to her family.
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Madeline (George) Westfall, Howard (Grace) Proffitt and Earlene (Joe) Stobart.
She is survived by her children, her grandchildren Laura ( Nick) Briggs and Melissa (OJ) Sancho, her great grandchildren, Paxton and Caelyn Briggs, Ryanne, Raegan, Rowyn, Rory and Arlo Sancho, all of Marysville. She is survived by a sister in law, Linda Sharpnack of Peru, Indiana and several nieces and nephews she adored.
Sincere thanks to all of her dedicated caregivers she has had since her stroke who treated her like family. Thanks to Ohio’s Hospice for their loving care for nearly two years. Norma requested no calling hours or viewing. A memorial will be held Wednesday, July 31 at noon at Kingwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice.
