Janet McCune, age 80, passed peacefully with her loving family at Kobacker House in Columbus on July 13. She was born in Trotwood, Ohio, to Glenna and Herbert Beeghly. She graduated from Trotwood High School and went on to study dental hygiene at The Ohio State University. She worked for 30 years as a dental hygienist. She later went on to study photography at the Ohio Institute of Photography and worked several years as a portrait photographer.
Janet was a long-time resident of Dublin and founding member of the Northwest Presbyterian Church. At church, she mentored women, planned women’s event, and was active in mission work, prayer groups and Bible studies. Here, she also met her husband Harold of 28 years through a mutual church friend. She was known for her positive spirit and embraced the scripture “This is the day that the Lord hath made; I will rejoice and be glad in it.”
She was a talented quilt artist and created dozens of quilts many featuring applique, hand stitching and boldly colored fabrics. She also volunteered as a docent at the Columbus Museum of Art (20 years) and Wexner Art Center (5 years).
Janet and Harold loved traveling the world together and visited all seven continents. Their favorite trip was a safari to Tanzania with their grandchildren. She was a big cheerleader for their grandchildrens’ passions and nurtured relationships with family and friends. She also loved birds and nature, and enjoyed experiencing “God’s creation” with others.
Janet is survived by her husband Harold McCune; children Teresa Woodard (Brian), Carey Albritton (James) and Greg McCrabb (Susan); stepdaughters Cindy Miles and Barb Cox (Jeff); and 12 grandchildren Brittany (Michael), Rachel, Erin, Grant, Mark, McLean, Ethan, Reid, Sarah, Emma, Quinn and Trevor; her sister Beverly Avers and brother Bob Beeghly (Pat); and Jeff McCrabb, former husband and father of her children.
Visitation hours are on Satuday, July 15, 2023 from 3-5pm at Schoedinger Funeral, 5980 Perimeter Dr., Dublin, Ohio. A memorial service will be on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at 3:30pm at Northwest Presbyterian Church, 6400 Post Rd., Dublin, Ohio 43016. In lieu of flowers, Janet requested donations to Northwest Presbyterian Church and Campus Outreach (both at the church address).
