He was a 1947 graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and a 1954 graduate of Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. George was a proud Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He was an accountant for Western Electric Company. In his spare time he was in many bowling leagues, was an avid reader and a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan. For 10 years he was a volunteer with Franklin County Metro Parks specifically at Sharon Woods.
George is survived by his loving daughters Kristen (Douglas) Everman and Janet (Joseph) Stevenson; and his beloved grandchildren Kerrie and Jillian (Paul Harshbarger). He is also survived by his sister-in-law Virginia Ketterer and niece Holly Hegadorn and nephew Todd Ketterer and their families and his beloved dachshund Rusty. George will be missed by his many friends at Storypoint Powell South. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Patricia; son William Thornton; his brother Robert S. Ketterer and dachshund Luci.
A visitation will be held at Schoedinger Dublin; 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017 on Monday November 18, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 19, 2024 at Schoedinger Dublin at 1:00 pm. Following the funeral service he will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Capital City Hospice or Hospets in Marysville.
