Frank P. Houpt entered fully into the presence of the Lord on September 20, 2023. He was 99 years old. Frank was born December 11, 1923, in Dunmore, PA. Frank graduated Upper Moreland High School in 1941 and attended Pennington Prep School and matriculated at Duke University in 1942. While at Duke, he entered the Navy V12 Program. In 1943, Frank transferred to Columbia University Navy Mid Shipman School and was commissioned as an Ensign.
Ensign Houpt served on a Landing Ship, Tank in the Pacific during WWII. Frank was called back to serve as a Lieutenant during the Korean War and served on an Amphibious Cargo Ship. Frank also served in the Reserves for a total of 19 years in the Navy.
As an electrical and mechanical engineer, Frank started his career with Fischer & Porter Company in Warminster, PA. During his 42-year career at Fischer & Porter Company, Frank held many managerial positions and retired as Vice President, Systems and Industry Marketing, and President of Fischer & Porter Installation Company. Frank received his Professional Engineering License in 1965. While at Fischer & Porter, Frank played 18 years in the Philadelphia Industrial Baseball League.
Frank was a member of Willow Grove Methodist Church, a church where his grandfather served as a founding member, and attended New Hope Church in Dublin, Ohio. Frank’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. Frank served his community as a Vice President of Willow Grove Kiwanis Club and coached little league baseball for many years.
Frank is survived by his wife Helen S. Houpt, daughter Beth Ann Bross (Richard), and sons Frank M. Houpt and Jeffrey P. Houpt (Meghan), step-daughters Karyn L. Wulf (Jason), Diane L. Munroe (Jeffrey) and grandchildren Aimee Price (John), Andrew Bross (Debbie), Nathan Kassis and Julia Kassis.
Frank is predeceased by his first wife, Florence M. Houpt, his father Frank S. Houpt, Jr. and mother Florence May Houpt.
Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His greatest joy was spending time with family and those he loved.
Visitation will be held at Schoedinger Dublin; 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017 on Wednesday September 27, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to New Hope Church; 4739 West Powell Road Powell, Ohio 43065.
