He was born on August 21, 1930 in Clearfield, the son of Frederick Logan Hoover, Sr. and Mildred (Walker) Hoover.
Dr. Hoover graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and the Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa.
He was very dedicated to his profession and helped many people at his practice, throughout his more than 55 years of service.
Dr. Hoover was protestant by faith.
He was a member of the Garfield Lodge #559 F. & A.M., the Altoona Jaffa Shrine Club, the Clearfield Shrine Oriental Band, the American Legion Band, and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Dr. Hoover loved his family and was always interested in what they were doing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and going to hunting camp.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Lash) Hoover, whom he married on October 31, 1953, four sons and a daughter: Dr. William Hoover and his wife Barbara, of Luthersburg, Dr. Mark Hoover and his wife Teddy, of Ridgway, Dr. Gary Hoover and his wife Carla, of Hyde, Dr. Randy Hoover and his wife Ann, of Punxsutawney and Linda VanCuren and her husband, Ed, of DuBois; fourteen grandchildren: Cindy Barrett, Bill, Mike, John, Mark, Katie, Gary Jr., David, Emily, Cody, and Austin Hoover, Beth, Andy and Miranda VanCuren; two sisters: Mrs. Joan Hoover Myers of Clearfield and Jane Resides and her husband Frank, of West Chester.
Dr. Hoover was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Honoring Dr. Hoover’s wishes, private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Dr. Randy Willis officiating. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
