Ruby was born in Douglasville, Georgia on September 9, 1927, the daughter of the late Oscar Gable and the late Bertie Eugenia Rainwater Gable. She retired from Cluett Peabody/Arrow Shirt Company after many years of service. Ruby loved her dogs especially her favorite, Wonder. She was a Christian woman and Baptist by Faith.
Ruby is survived by her step-daughter-in-law, Jackie Kirby, sister Euvela Harden, step grandsons Shane Kirby and wife Karen, Josh Kirby and wife Heather; four step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Diane and Ikey Watson, Carolyn and Jim Whitmore, Larry Camp, Donald and Penny Camp, Jimmy Camp, Mike and Robin Camp, Thomas Gable, Linda and Jerry Stephens, Carl and Janice Gable, Larry Gable, Barbara Strickland, Ronnie Harden and many great and great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, D. H. Kirby, Sr., she is preceded in death by her step-son Danny Kirby, brothers Chester Gable, Conis Gable, sister Nettie Camp, and nephew, Conis Gable, Jr.
The family will receive friends at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. The service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ikey Watson officiating.
Interment will follow the service in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
