Matthew grew up in Douglas County and was a 2017 graduate of Alexander High School, where he was a member of the ROTC Program. A quiet and gentle young man, Matthew was kind, humble and hard-working. He was known for his mischievous grin and his witty, sarcastic sense of humor. In his spare time, he enjoyed cars and anything automotive, watching Top Gear on TV, computer games, and sports – especially baseball and football games. Matthew earned his certificate in Welding. He was currently going to school at Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Rome, Georgia, to pursue a degree in being a FAA certified A&P technician. He was loved and respected by all of his fellow classmates and instructors at school. Matthew was known to be a connoisseur of sandwiches and he loved cats. He enjoyed traveling with his family. In 2014, they took a family trip around the USA. While in Arizona, Matthew discovered that he excelled at off roading on the quad trails of Sedonia. More recently, he and his family traveled to Universal Studios.
Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Bernetta Hill; and his maternal grandparents, William and Frances Pearson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his parents, Lance and Jan Hill; brothers, Nathan Hill and Jared Hill; sister, Christy Hill; numerous other loved ones, family and friends. Matthew will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Ephesus Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Godwin officiating. Following the service, Matthew will be laid to rest at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.
