Martin Lee Turner

Mr. Martin “Marty” Lee Turner, of Villa Rica, GA, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the age of 88. He was born in Lincolnton, NC on August 6, 1931 to the late Clara and William Turner. Marty served in the Air Force after graduating high school. Afterwards, he moved to Atlanta, GA where he began a long successful career as a representative of Lockheed Martin. While he worked, he attended Georgia Tech and Georgia State University, where he earned his Master’s degree. He traveled all over the world for Lockheed, including a 6 month service in Antarctica. He retired from Lockheed after 40 years of service. Marty loved traveling and playing golf, but most of all, he loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He also loved spending time relaxing at the beach. He was a resident of Douglas County for 48 years. Marty was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was much loved and will be missed and never forgotten by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria Turner; his son and daughter-in-law, Mandy and Scott Turner; his daughters, Vicki Deyton and Nancy Buckler; his grandchildren, Kelley Langley McMurrain, Bradley Stephen Buckler, Blake Thomas Buckler, Ashley Turner Ballew, Stephanie Buckler Brosseau, Joshua Thomas Deyton, and Wesley Cliff Martin Turner; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is furthermore survived by his sisters, Betty Hoffman and Carolyn Dellinger; and his brothers, Dwight, Bill, Kermit, and Jeff Turner.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Reverend R. C. (Ikey) Watson officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, GA.
