Margaret Ann Slappey Jackson, age 87, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1937, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Mr. Jesse Linwood Slappey Jr. and Mrs. Marion Lucile Slappey.
Margaret was a woman of many passions and pursuits, and her life was defined by a deep love for family, faith, and adventure. She had an unwavering commitment to her Christian beliefs, which guided her through every season of life. Margaret was an avid reader, often found with a book in hand or enjoying a quiet moment with a word search puzzle. She had a remarkable ability to find joy in the little things—whether it was relaxing in her motor home on a camping trip with her beloved husband or collecting teacups, a hobby that brought her both peace and delight.
A true adventurer at heart, Margaret was always ready to explore new places. She and her husband traveled far and wide, creating cherished memories along the way. Her wanderlust was matched only by her devotion to her church family, where she was a constant source of encouragement, warmth, and kindness. Margaret’s love for life was further reflected in her unwavering support of Georgia Tech football, where she was a proud fan who cheered with enthusiasm for her team.
Margaret’s life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and a joy-filled heart. She will be truly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Mr. Franklin D. Jackson, and her brother, Jimmy Linwood Slappey.
Margaret leaves behind to cherish her memory: her loving son, Bill and Robin Jackson; grandchildren, Christin (Seth) Taylor, and Madison (Cole) Cook; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rogers. Additionally, Margaret leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
