Don Zalesky, 82, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born August 26, 1938 in Forest City, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Sophie and Donald Zalesky. Don proudly served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. His successful career spanned over 30 years in medical sales and management.
Lovingly known by his family as “Papa”, he was always willing to give rides on his scooter to his two great-grandsons. One of “Papa’s” favorite things was all the beautiful artwork from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He liked the Shelby Cobra, watching car auctions, the History Channel, and Pawn Stars. Don loved Texas, and enjoyed listening to Willie Nelson, the Beatles, ZZ Top, and the Blues. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Zalesky Dzwonchyk
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Zalesky; son, David Zalesky (Julie) of Douglasville, Georgia; daughter, Lynn Abass (Keith) of Douglasville, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Joseph Angello (Johanna) of Greensboro, Georgia and Basil Dzwonchyk of Charlotte, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Courtney Zalesky (Anthony Shumaker) of Villa Rica, Georgia, Morgan Zalesky and Savannah Zalesky, both of Douglasville, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Landon Shumaker and Colton Shumaker; nieces and nephews, Jim Dzwonchyk (Helen) of Maryland, Joe Dzwonchyk (Ann) of Pennsylvania, and Sara Zaverl (Eric) of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A private memorial mass for close friends and family will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Chapel Hill High School Jr. ROTC program, 4899 Chapel Hill Road, Douglasville, GA 30135, Attn: Warrant Officer Atkinson.
