Cathy Marie White age 69 of Lithia Springs passed away Tuesday March 12, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family. Cathy was born on December 29, 1954 in Atlanta, Georgia. Her faith in God was unmeasured; this was shown in her dedication as an assistant coordinator in the Living Waters Program at her church, Church of the Apostles. She worked as an account manager at International Game Technology and worked in lottery ticket design for almost 40 years.
Cathy loved sewing, crafting, writing, baking and travelling. She was known for hosting her family’s Christmas parties where she organized festive games (like the money jar) that would leave her family laughing. She travelled all over the world, and spoke often of her trips to Chile, Italy, Spain, France, Hawaii and Australia; most notably, a trip to Israel with her sister, Denise.
Cathy is survived by her son, Brannon White; daughter, Terra Tafoya and her husband Gary; life partner and best friend Terry White; Grandchildren Taylor (Christian) Carter, Alex (David) Moghaddam, Ansley (Dylan) Brumfield, Alaina White, Tanner Richardson and Isaac Tafoya. She is survived by her Great-Grandchildren Miles Carter, Mila Brumfield, and Penelope Moghaddam. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Tommy (Linda) Akin, Jerry (Lucy) Akin, and her beloved sister Denise Engler. She is survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family that she loved dearly.
She is survived by her cherished dog, Emmie.
She is preceded in death by her parents John Thomas “JT” Akin and Barbara Jean Akin Tucker, sister
Angela Akin, and daughter-in-law, Sherri White.
A viewing will be held on Saturday March 16, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven in Douglasville. A funeral service will follow in the Rosehaven Chapel at 11:00 am with Pastor Bruce Cebone officiating and brother Tommy Akin to follow. Following the services, she will be laid to rest at Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs, Georgia.
