Ms. Bernadette “Betty” Baptiste, age 82, of Douglasville, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Ms. Baptiste was born February 6, 1938 to the late Benjamin and Marie (Alphonse) Pierre in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. All of her life, she worked as a seamstress until she found her calling as a caregiver. She loved people and enjoyed caring for others; being a caregiver came naturally to her. She enjoyed listening to music, singing, whistling and dancing. Ms. Baptiste loved to travel and was exceedingly proud of her origin and home country of Haiti.
She was always the life of the party. She was also known to be quite the jokester, making others laugh brought her great joy. She loved to take long walks, being on Facebook and keeping up with social media. She had impeccable taste in clothing and enjoyed the finer things in life.
Preceding Ms. Baptiste in death are her parents, Benjamin and Marie Alphonse Pierre; siblings, Louis Pierre, Ophelia Fidele, Luciene Pierre and Marie Renee Lespinasse; and grandchildren, Malik J. Theodore and Keelan Philip Jodesty.
Her memory will be cherished by her children, Regine (Jean Frantz) George of New York and their children Brandon George and Julian George, Philippe (Daniel) Thernize of Douglasville and their daughter Cassidy-Rae Jodesty, Vladimir Lee (Tamatha) Theodore of Douglasville and their son Damian L. Theodore, and Thierry (Olivia) Theodore of Douglasville and their children Tariq N. Theodore, Alina N. Theodore; siblings, Joubert Pierre, Raymonde Douze, Claude Pierre, Willer Pierre, Mona Edma, Leslie Pierre, Carmel Dellile, Karine Pierre and Margaret Pierre; and numerous other loved ones, family, and friends.
The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Friday, August 28, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services will be held at the Rosehaven Chapel on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00 am officiated by Father Guyma Noel.
