Walter Gabriel Sanchez Jr.

Walter Gabriel “Shorty” Sanchez, Jr., 80, died on Saturday, December 21, 2013. He was a graduate of Ascension Catholic. He served in the U.S. Navy. Shorty is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn Sanchez and Rex Charlet; one son and daughter-in-law, Eric Paul and Vera D. Sanchez; five grandchildren, Eric Paul Sanchez II and fiancé, Jacqueline Weimer, Aimee Monaco, Mattie Charlet Sumner and husband Christopher, and Kristen Charlet; three great grandchildren, Madison and Mason Zeringue, and Brooklyn Monaco; and one brother and sister-in-law, George and Jeanette Sanchez.

Preceded in death by his parents, Clemence D. and Walter Sanchez, Sr.; one brother, Robert Sanchez; one sister; Sara Duplechain; and former wife, Janet Richard Sanchez.

Family would like to give a special thanks to Gwen Morris Calvaruso, staff at Heritage Manor of Napoleonville, Charlotte with Cardinal Hospice, Fr. Andrew Merrick, and the sisters of Mt. Carmel.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose. Interment to follow at Ascension of Our Lord Mausoleum in Donaldsonville. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville.
