He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. He enjoyed going out dancing with the love of his life, Annabel. He was a proud Cajun who spoke French every chance he could get. He was a longtime usher at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He was also a loyal LSU sports fan and enjoyed a good bourre' game. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Nelson J. Landry, Jr. (Verlin); sister, Harriet Callegan; brother, Arnold Landry (Meg); six grandchildren, Shannon Richard (Luna), Tracie Richard (Lynne), Robbie Acosta (Brandon), Joey Landry (Brent), Sarah Carbo (Bryan) and Emma Ball; eight great-grandchildren, Bryce Richard, Pollyanna Richard, Bailey Acosta, Brock Acosta, Madison Duhon, Chloe Poche, Noah Poche, and Bryan "Buddy" Carbo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Anaise and Junius Landry; his loving wife of 70 years, Annabel; daughters, Paulette Richard and Dawn Ball; sisters, Elma Rodrigue, Mathilda Blanchard, Shirley Caballero, Beatrice Martin, and Jynell Stevens; and brothers, Welton and Raleigh Landry.
The family would like to thank Debbie Demanuelle at Amedysis Home Health , whom he adored, for her care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Donaldsonville from 10:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial for 1:00 pm. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Father Matthew Dupre will be officiating.
