Leonard Joseph Verret, 83, a native of Pierre Part and resident of Belle Rose, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending family gatherings. Leonard was a retired Local 198 pipefitter and welder who was very dedicated and proud of his work. He was known to be one of the best welders around. Music was his passion, he loved singing and playing the guitar with local bands. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virgie Hidalgo Verret; one son, Wendell Verret and wife, Karen; one daughter, Darla Grisaffe and husband, Burt; four grandchildren, Jared Verret, Jude Verret, Ashlyn Grisaffe Simmers and husband, Aaron, and Burt “B.J.” Grisaffe Jr.; one great grandchild, Baylor Grace Simmers; two sisters, Lucy Davis and Francis Blanchard; one brother, Aubrey Verrette. He is preceded in death by parents, Cyrus and Albertine Verrette; one son, Keith Verret; two sisters, Anite Verrette and Betty Landry, and one brother, Alcee Verret. Pallbearers will be: Burt Grisaffe, B.J. Grisaffe, Aaron Simmers, Jared Verret, Jude Verret, and James LeBeouf. The family would like to thank Dr. Keith Landry, Cardinal Hospice, the staff at Chateau Dville especially, Lainey LeBoeuf, Stephanie Couch and Gabby Landry their compassionate and comforting guidance was very well appreciated. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at St. Jules Catholic Church at 10am with an interment to follow in the church mausoleum.
