Charles J. Landry, Sr., a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully Saturday February 11, 2023, surrounded by his family. At his passing he was 82.
Charles, affectionately known as Charlie, was born January 10, 1941 in Klotzville to the late Fernand Pierre Landry and the late Lena Daigle Landry and was one of five children born to that union. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.
Charlie was retired from Dow Chemical with over 40 years of faithful service. Outside of his career, he spent his time with his family at his favorite spot, his camp at Lake Verret, relaxing on his porch and casting a line when he felt like it. He was also a great cook and took part at the Allons Manger Festival in Belle Rose every year. Above all, Charlie was a man who lived for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son, Stacy Landry Primeaux and husband Donnie and Charles J. “Chuck” Landry, Jr. and wife Bridget; his grandchildren, Payton Primeaux, Mason Landry, Sybil Primeaux and Daniel Thompson; two great grandchildren, Carson Thompson and Jackson Thompson; and his sisters, Barbara Gros, Charlotte Blanchard and Eleanor “Pug” Babin.
Along with his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Landry; and his brother, Gary Landry.
A gathering of family and friends will be held St. Jules Catholic Church in Belle Rose on Thursday, February 16 from 9:00 until 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Charlie’s life will be held at 11:00 am, with Fr. Tomi Thomas as celebrant. Following the mass, Charlie will be laid to rest with his wife at St. Jules Mausoleum.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Marty Landry, Michael Landry, Emile Gros, Alvin Gros, Johnny Blanchard and Craig Landry. Mark Breaux will serve as honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlie’s name to The American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
