It is with great sadness that the family of Wayne Donald Tidd Sr., announces his passing on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at the age of 76 at Tideview Terrace Nursing Home surrounded by his wife and family. Wayne will be dearly missed by his wife, Wanda (nee O’Donnell), of 26 years, his sister, Donna Ellis (Perry) and his children, David (Ruth), Wayne Jr., VaRhona Wright, Keith Wright (Colleen), Karoline Larramore (Danny), and Karl Wright. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Katherine Larramore, Patrick and Jeffery Bridges, Keith Wright, Jessica Gamblin, Tayler Cosman and Grace Wright and his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Edna Myrtle (nee Frost) and siblings, Blanche Small (Fletcher), Dean (Lena), Ainsley (Alma), Alda Sweeney (Vernon), Sadie, and Edna Donaldson (Merle).
Wayne was a jovial man who liked to joke around and his smirk was known by many. Due to his friendliness, he had friends from all walks of life. He worked at Digby General Hospital as an Engineer for 29 years. Wayne kept busy doing many things, including building and “Macgyvering” many projects. He enjoyed building model boats, and other diverse projects. Wayne wore several “hats.” He volunteered at the Digby and Area Food Bank for many years. He enjoyed mentoring young people and he spent time volunteering with a youth band named BIC at the Sandy Cove Baptist Church, along with Lawrence Trask, to take them to other churches to play, many years ago. He volunteered at many churches around the Digby area. He was also an artist, Ordained Minister, and an author. Wayne took the time to help people, not for acknowledgement, but out of his love for Jesus Christ, who was the centre of his life. Even as his body deteriorated and fought hard to live, he stayed secure in the knowledge that death was only the beginning of his journey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Tideview Terrace Nursing Home for their care of Wayne. Your care and concern was greatly appreciated.
The Viewing will take place on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Jayne’s Funeral Home 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. A Celebration of Life service will be Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 2pm, at Jayne’s Funeral Home located at 7 Birch St, Digby, Nova Scotia with Rev. Shawn Kehoe officiating.
