Sanford, Laurie Denton- Age 84 of Lansdowne Road passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Mary by his side. Born in Clementsvale, he was a son of the late Walter and Rita (Fraser) Sanford. Over his career, Laurie worked as a farmer, woodsman, millworker, snowplow driver and a cook for 22 years at CFB Cornwallis until his retirement in 1993. He and Mary volunteered at Digby East Fish and Game for 27 years where he was a life member. Laurie was a kind and humble man, willing to help anyone. He loved his family and spending time with them and his friends. He enjoyed camping, cooking and being there for anyone. He always took the time to listen. He was a gentle man who never complained and always thought of others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Laurie leaves behind his wife and best friend of 29 years, Mary Clairmont; daughters, Tammy Sanford-Hutchinson (Peter), Teresa Sanford (Jimmy), Cassandra Sanford; Rose McIntyre; sons, Timothy Sanford, Terrance Sanford; Merv (Carole) Ungurain, George Ungurain, Murray Ungurain, Allen (Kathleen) Ungurain, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Laurie was predeceased by brothers, Oliver (Louise), Malcolm, Cyril, Truman; granddaughters, baby Tammy Stoddart and Amie Stoddart. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral Service will be 10am, Saturday December 9th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Digby with Father Craig Christenson presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Digby East Fish and Game.
