It saddens us to inform you that Joan Gwendolyn (Grant) Ellis of Barton passed away March 4, 2021 in the Annapolis Royal Nursing Home at the age of 82. Born in Digby, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Hankinson) Grant.
Joan was a Director of Ellis GM and a homemaker. She was a member of the United Church, UCW, a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Joan loved the apple blossoms in the spring, gardens of dahlia’s, tulips, rose bushes, going to church and church functions. She was an avid reader, enjoyed travelling, shopping, getting her hair done, eating out, sweets, and spending time with her family.
Joan is survived by sons, Kevin, Brighton, Kent (Lynn), Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Jennifer (Brent), Barton; son-in-law, Brian (Angela) Comeau, Hammonds Plains; grandchildren, Taylor (Dustin) Pearson, Ottawa, Alec (Morgan) Comeau, Edmonton, Faith Comeau, Halifax, Lori Comeau, Antigonish, Zachery Ellis and Micah Ellis both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Logan (Alexandra) Hebb, Kentville, Dawson (Leanne) Hebb, Barton; sister, Diane Shortliffe, Hammonds Plains. Besides her parents Joan was predeceased by her husband, Richard of 55 years and daughter, Jill Comeau.
Visitation 7-9pm on Tuesday March 9th from Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral service at 2pm, Wednesday March 10th from St. Mary’s Bay Baptist Church, Barton with pastor Mark Cress presiding. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Digby & Area Health Services Charitable Foundation. Special thank you to Betty Mullen for being a wonderful friend.
