It is with great sadness that we the family of the late Jean Mary O’Neil Harris announce her passing on Thursday, October 17 at home in Digby. Born in Digby on August 29, 1938, Jean was the daughter of the late Bernie and Cecile O’Neil of Digby.
Jean was predeceased by her late husband, Robert “Bob” Harris and is survived by her two sons, William Randall “Randy” Harris and Robert Allen “Robbie” Harris.
Jean worked at the Digby Municipality Office for over 30 years. Jean was very passionate about volunteering for many years here in Digby; Jean was past president of the CWL at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Jean also taught tai-chi classes, volunteered at Digby Food Bank and sold daffodils for the Canadian Cancer Society. One of Jean‘s favorite memories was taking a trip to Disney World in Florida with her late brother, Darrel O’Neil and his wife, as you can see in her picture above, Jean got her picture taken with “Tigger” from Winnie which put a very big smile on her face. Jean was also a Toronto Maple Leafs hockey fan. Jean‘s favorite food was “world famous” Digby scallops.
