Hewey, Gregory Ronald, It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved and only son, Greg, age 62 of Mochelle, Annapolis, Co. on July 30th, 2016 as a result of a vehicle/pedestrian accident in Annapolis Royal. Greg was born on July 9th, 1954 in Annapolis Royal to parents, Ronald and Juanita (Wiles) Hewey. He was educated at the Annapolis Royal Regional Academy. Greg received a diploma in computer technology and also earned professional industry certification as a front desk agent through the Canadian Tourism Industry. Over the years Greg worked in health care at Camp Hill Hospital, VG Hospital, Halifax and Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. For several years Greg operated his own business, The Piccadilly Bake Shop in Annapolis Royal. In recent years, Greg worked in the tourism and hospitality industry. He was employed at Champlain Motel prior to his current position at Admiral Digby Inn where he has been happily employed for seven years as front desk agent. His hobbies included crafting, woodworking, cooking, and gardening. Many of his creations were prominently displayed at the family home. He took joy in gifting his crafts to many family and friends. His outside nativity scene was always enjoyed by the community. Greg spent many enjoyable hours researching local history. He was a past member of the Annapolis District Drama Society. His greatest joy was his family. Greg is survived by his loving parents, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Debra Lynn, maternal grandparents, Doris and Hardy Wiles, paternal grandparents, Eleanor and Clayton Hewey. Funeral service will be held at First United Baptist Church in Annapolis Royal on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 2pm. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. There will be no visitation. The funeral service will be conducted by the Reverend Dr. Elizabeth Legassie, assisted by Pastor Herb Anderson. Following the service the internment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Dugway Road, Allain Creek. Family flowers only.
