Gordon Byron Nichols, age 85, of Freeport, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2023, with family by his side at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born February 24, 1937, in Rossway, he was a son of the late Arthur Nichols and Christina Cann (née Prime).
Over the years he had many jobs in both Nova Scotia and Ontario, including bank teller, Canadian Tire clerk, fish plant worker, grave digger, and road sander. He was also involved in the construction of the Lovers Lane Bridge and the Freeport telecommunications tower. He was a devoted family man, from raising his own children to the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. In all things, he was gentle, calm, loving and godly. He also gave generously, including to family and local businesses. After Moving to the Islands Manor, he was happy to offer his former home to his grandson and family.
