Elsie Bunker, 86, passed away at home on August 9th, 2022 with family by her side. She lived her entire life in Tiddville. She was born to Leila and Milledge Tidd in the little house “over in the field”. Elsie and her husband, Clifford Bunker, along with several friends and neighbours, founded Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church in 1951, which still exists today in Tiddville as Live Well Community Church. Elsie and Clifford were the first couple to be married at Calvary Temple in 1952. She began her service to her Lord at the age of 14 as the Sunday School Treasurer and went on to teach various children’s Sunday School classes. Elsie spent many a summer cooking in the kitchen alongside Mrs. Jagoe at Camp Evangeline in Debert.
Elsie and Clifford raised 5 wonderful children: Cathy (Brad) D’Entremont, Lower West Pubnico, Pam (Bob) Dyck, Dartmouth, Holly (Nelson) Koonce, North Carolina, Edward (Nickie) Bunker, Dartmouth, and Julie (Tim) Long, Tiddville. They also had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They raised their family in a small house in Tiddville, which was the community school house they both attended as children.
Elsie spent many of her days working beside her mother next door at L.M. Tidd Groceries. Frequently, she and her sister Bessie could be found picking berries in fields with their children nearby. Elsie spent her entire life caring for her family and friends in her community. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Elsie is survived by all of her children, her sisters Bessie (Ernie) Newell, Tiddville, Grace Golding, New Brunswick, and brother Scott (Josephine) Tidd, Aylesford. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford, her parents, Leila and Milledge, as well as her brother, Eddie Tidd.
Elsie has been entrusted to Jayne’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Live Well Community Church in Tiddville at 11am on Friday, August 12 with Reverend Tim Long presiding. There will be a viewing 7-9pm on Thursday, August 11 as well as 10am August 12. She will be buried alongside her husband, Clifford, in Hillcrest Cemetery in Little River.
