It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Elizabeth Deman nee Morgan, age 72, on November 18, 2021 in the Bridgewater Regional Hospital. Born in Annapolis Royal she was a daughter of the late Edith and Cecil Morgan.
Barb grew up in Greenland, then moved to Toronto where she worked in cosmetology for several years. She moved back to Nova Scotia and resided in Digby. In 2006, Barb relocated to Cornwallis Park.
Barb had many talents and excelled at them all. While living in Digby, she helped her sister, Lin with the Pioneer Girl activities at the Smith’s Cove Church. Barb and Lin had a very special bond. During the last 15 years, Lin and her husband John Conway were Barb’s caregivers and despite her physical limitations, Barb was and always has been supportive during any and all of Lin’s difficult times.
Following a heart attack and a stroke in July, Barb spent several weeks in the Yarmouth hospital before being transferred to Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg for continuing rehab.
Through it all, Barb was an inspiration to all with her positive and cheerful attitude and made friends with many people.
We wish to thank the nurses, doctors, physio and all staff who took such good care of her. Barb called them, “her angels.”
Barb is survived by son, Adreaan Deman, Ontario; sisters, Edna Peck, Greenland, Judy (Dan) MacRae of London, Ont, Linda (John) Conway of Cornwallis Park; brothers, Dick (Barb) or Bear River, Phil of Digby; grandchildren, Autumn and Logan of Ontario.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Larry, Wayne and Ted.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby.
There will be a private family graveside service and burial at a later date.
