MILNER, Allister Chipman- Age 94, passed away at home, May 3rd, 2014. Born in Morganville, he was a son of the late, Jack and Lucy (Harris) Milner. Allister worked for Nova Scotia Power for 27 years. He was very active in his community of Bear River; a 45 year member of the Bear River Fire Dept. and Fire Chief for 19 years. He served 50 years with Digby Co. Exhibition, 4 years as president on Bear River Board of Trade, Municipal Councilor for 6 years, past member and president of Mount Hope Cemetery and was a member of the Bear River United Baptist Church for over 60 years. Allister is survived by daughters, Audrey ( Frank) Dennison, Karen (Warren) Wagner, both of Brooklyn, NS; son, David (Mary Anne), Sidney, BC; daughter in-law, Maryann Milner, Deep Brook, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother in-law, Cyril (Mary) McCormick; sister in-law, Iva Milner also several nieces and nephews. Allister was pre-deceased by wife, Pauline; son, Brian; granddaughter, Jennifer; brothers, Charlie, Thomas and Gordon. Visitation 7-9pm, Wednesday May 7th from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St. Digby (245-2525). Funeral Service at 1pm, Thursday May 8th from Bear River United Baptist Church. Rev. Steven Hopper, Rev. Earl Waterman and Rev. John Kaulback to preside with interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bear River Fire Dept.
