We said our last goodbye to Vicki Lynne Glowacki of Dexter, Michigan on Thursday, December 28, 2023. We were able to surround her with our love as she passed from our lives. She never fully recovered after her open-heart surgery in August but she fought a good fight to the end. Her loving husband, Tom Glowacki, was her primary caregiver over the last several months, and his dedication to and care of Vicki was nothing short of extraordinary.
Vicki was determined to make it to Christmas and to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra one last time. We were able to honor her wish and brought the family together to celebrate Christmas. The next day we all took a day trip to TSO where she was bopping to the music, singing, and tapping her toes through the whole show.
Vicki was born March 25, 1950 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Her parents were Raymond Crippen and Wilda (Buskirk) Crippen. Vicki received her Associates Degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).
Vicki met Tom in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 1, 1970. They married on November 25, 1972 and moved to Dexter, Michigan in August 1979. Vicki started working at the Dexter Schools in 1983 as a paraprofessional and eventually retired as the Manager of IT in 2011.
She was such a remarkable and strong woman, wife, mom, daughter and grandmother. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Tom Glowacki. Children: Ed (Mindy) Glowacki of Brighton, MI and Deb (Matt) Slezak of Mason, MI. Grandchildren: Thomas, Rebecca, Lilly, Emerson, and Anna.
Cremation will take place and her remains will be interred at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea, MI. There will be a celebration of life open house in the spring/summer 2024. In remembrance of Vicki’s life, we ask that any charitable donations be made to the University of Michigan Frankel Cardiovascular Center Women’s Heart Program (https://giving.umich.edu/um/w/women-s-heart-program-318690?keyword=frankel)
A Robert Sexton poem hangs framed in Tom and Vicki’s bedroom and reflects their devotion to each other for 19,600 days:
Across the years I will walk with you – in deep green forests; on shores of sand: and when our time on earth is through, in heaven, too, you will have my hand.
