Winkle and Elizabeth A. (Gallagher) Winkle who preceded him in death. Thomas is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 22 years, Sherry Winkle of Adrian, MI, his son Joseph Winkle of Grass Lake, MI, daughter Nicole (Kurt) Pfefferle of Chelsea, MI; three grandchildren, Joey Winkle, Abby Pfefferle and Ava Pfefferle; his brother Ronald (Mary Ann) Winkle of Ann Arbor, MI, and his sister Lewann (Ted) VanDeven of Floral City, FL; three nephews, the late Michael Winkle, James Winkle and Jason VanDeven; two nieces, Kellie Horner and Donna Franklin; mother of his children, Cheri Falk. Thomas was born and raised in Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School in 1965. He was known for his fast cars and cruising the streets of Dexter. He loved nothing more than the small town atmosphere where he enjoyed family gatherings, holidays, the annual Dexter Daze festival among other happenings around town. On the weekends he loved spending time working in his yard, tinkering on home projects, watching Michigan football and ending the night with a “late night” cook out listening to music. During the week Thomas would never miss an episode of his favorite soap opera “Days of Our Lives”. Nothing stopped Thomas, even after his cancer diagnosis. The week he was diagnosed he and his wife Sherry traveled to Mackinaw Island and rode bikes around the island, a place where he loved to vacation. Thomas spent over 50 years as an electrician as a profession, but as a hobby as well. In his last year he built several homemade radios in between his treatments to keep busy. Not only was Thomas a hardworking person with a lot of hobbies, he was a very kind person who would do anything to help someone in need especially his family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Lenawee at 517-263-2323 or the American Cancer Society.
