Paul Ecker, a beloved friend, devoted family member, and passionate outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on December 27, 1954, Paul lived a life full of joy, laughter, and adventure.
Paul was a warm and loving individual who treasured his close relationships with his family. He shared a special bond with his brother, Robert (Bob), and was a devoted uncle to his niece, Jeanine. His sister-in-law, Marian, also held a cherished place in his heart. Above all, Paul’s love for his mother, Verna, was boundless; he was always by her side, offering support and affection.
His father, Clifford, a Baptist Minister, served his last assignment at Cascades Baptist Church in Jackson, Michigan, before passing away from a stroke at a young age. Following his father's death, Verna took on the monumental task of raising Paul and Bob, ensuring they were well cared for and deeply loved.
An avid outdoorsman, Paul found great joy in hunting and fishing, often embarking on yearly trips out West with his friend Lou. Despite the frequent storms that seemed to follow their adventures, Paul’s spirit remained undampened. His enthusiasm extended beyond hunting; he was also deeply involved in sports, participating in numerous softball teams over the years.
Paul’s career as a truck driver and delivery person was marked by his infectious humor and friendly demeanor. He had a knack for brightening his clients’ days with jokes and laughter, making every delivery an experience to remember. His life-long friend, Bill W worked with Paul and stayed friends and was an immense help to him near the end of Paul’s life.
Paul delighted in visiting his family in New York, especially in the Buffalo and Niagara Falls areas. The time he spent with his cousins, Sharon,Carol and Mark, and their mother, Auntie Arlene, was always precious to him. Paul also cherished the moments spent with his brother’s family, attending recitals, birthday parties, and holidays with his close-knit and loving relatives.
Paul’s passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and zest for life will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his niece, Jeanine ( Matt) ; his sister-in-law, Marian; and many other friends and loved ones who were touched by his kindness and spirit.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Verna and Clifford Ecker, and his beloved brother, Robert..
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Paul’s memory to a charity of choice that supports the outdoors or helps families in need.
