Magdalen was born December 25, 1932, the daughter of Austrian-Hungarian parents: Frank P. and Mary E. (Saltrick) Lukotch, and was preceded in death by: Helen E. (Lukotch) and Thomas Marshall, Hazel E. (Lukotch) and A.P. “Pat” Pallini, Gertrude M. (Lukotch) and Galen E. Stine, Frank P. and Pauline Lukotch Jr., Charles R. and Violetta M. Lukotch, Daniel J. and Delores F. Lukotch Sr., Richard E. and Jeannette C. Lukotch, Agatha (Lukotch) and George J. Petro, Margaret (Mary) A. Lukotch, Maryanne L. (Lukotch) and Richard G. Barnhart.
Magdalen was a Registered Nurse and dedicated her life to taking care of people. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, PA in 1953 finishing at the top of her class. Throughout her career she continued her education keeping her nursing skills up to date by attending conferences and classes in various hospitals throughout the U.S. Her nursing career included emergency room medicine, obstetrics, psychology and spent the second half of her career in geriatrics. She attended The Ohio State University to obtain her Administrative licensing in 1974, to become the Administrator of Huron View Lodge, Ann Arbor, MI. She retired after owning and operating Haas Adult Foster Care Home in Jackson, MI. No doubt had her health allowed; she would have found a way to help emergency staff with the current Corona Virus crisis.
She loved dancing in the kitchen, cooking, parties, Corvettes, poker, horses, ants on a log, gardenias, Depression Glass, Roquefort, Dagwood sandwiches and Las Vegas slot machines but her greatest love was her family and her Siamese cat “Sweetie Pie.” She was a tough old bird and never met an obstacle she wouldn’t run over with the lawnmower, her car or beat with a hammer.
She is survived by her loving, dedicated, and ever so patient husband, and Best Dad Ever, Charles H. “Bud/Charley” Haas, and children: Charles R. and Christine G. Haas of Redmond, WA; Douglas R. and Christine I.H. Haas of Ossian, IN; David P. and Susan J. Haas of Plainwell, MI; Gary T. and Tracy L. Haas of Florence, MT; Luanne (Haas) and Kevin L. Lampman of Bella Vista, AR; and Maria E. Haas of Tucson, AZ; nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
