James T. Miller, age 69, passed away November 27, 2010 at his home in Pinckney. Jim was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 19, 1941, the son of Lawrence M. and Marie A. (Hall) Miller. On May 6, 1967 he married the love of his life Polly (Paulette) Simmons. Jim was in the army from 1959 to 1962 and received an honorable discharge. He attended Washtenaw Community College and graduated with honors. Jim worked for various companies as a computer expert throughout his work years. Jim was a very gifted man and could do anything that he set his mind to do. He had a general contractor's license and built both homes that he and Polly lived in, complete with custom furniture. Jim had a great zest for life and tackled everything with lots of enthusiasm. Jim was never happier than when he was sailing – cruising, racing, windsurfing or ice boating. Jim was a licensed pilot and a member of Ann Arbor Flyers. He was a certified scuba diver and loved taking underwater pictures. He is survived by his wife Polly Miller, his beloved nephew Tom Poynter and his grand niece Stephanie, his daughter M. Dawn (Tom) Gehrig, and grandson Coley Duncan. His son Lawrence preceded him in death. All of Jim’s five sisters survive him: Dee (Nick) Scienski of AZ, Deb (Kurt) Danford, Judy (Jon) Haddon, Patti (John) Darrow, and Lawren (Lenny) Paugh. His sister Dee and her husband Nick were instrumental in his care, providing years of physical, spiritual, and emotional support. Jim will be missed by many nieces and nephews including Laurie(Bob) Sullivan, Connie (Chuck) Gaff, Tina (Al) Jurkanis ,Deb (Patrick) Humphries, and Heather Wagus.
