It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dawn Marie Ziegler on September 14, 2024. Dawn’s radiant spirit and zest for life touched all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark of joy and love on everyone who knew her.
Born March 26, 1972, with an unbreakable spirit, Dawn faced her early years with courage and resilience. As a child, she bravely battled Hodgkin’s disease and later overcame cancer as a young adult. Her experiences fostered a deep respect and gratitude for the healthcare professionals who supported her and fueled her lifelong dream of working in Children’s Oncology where she could pay forward the compassion her medical care staff provided her. This dream partially came true as she dedicated herself to helping others at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer center, where she was known to many as Ziggy. Her compassion and strength inspired those around her. She quickly gained the respect of coworkers that saw her zeal in helping comfort the cancer patients that she worked with.
Dawn met the love of her life, Cory, 11 years ago, and have been married for a wonderful two and a half years. Together, they shared countless adventures and built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Their bond was evident in their shared passions, from riding motorcycles and camping to embracing the vibrant culture at German Park, where they danced traditional German Dances in full costume. Dawn cherished her adopted family, her fellow members of the German Park. Dawn’s infectious joy and enthusiasm for life were reflected in every activity she pursued.
Halloween was another cherished occasion for Dawn, who delighted in dressing up and celebrating the season. Her playful spirit and love for costumes extended to the Michigan Renaissance Festival, where she and Cory also dressed in medieval attire.
Dawn was a beacon of fun, love, and happiness. Her presence enriched Cory’s life and brought a sense of joy and lightness to him. She had an extraordinary ability to make every moment special. Dawn is survived by her loving husband, Cory; her children Tomasa Wilman (Eric), Killian Bragg, Leif Bragg (Kara), Kyle Bragg, Rachel Ziegler, and Georgia Ziegler; her grandchildren Izabella, Harley, and Leland; her sister Michelle; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her friends who will forever cherish her memory. Her legacy of resilience, compassion, and unbounded joy will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association.
Dawn Marie Ziegler will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved her
