James Richard Hartwig was born on July 11, 1944 in Chicago, IL. and died on August 22, 2012 in Lansing, MI at the age of 68. James grew up in St. Louis, MO, lived in Williamston MI. for 14 years, moved and lived in Agoura Hills, CA for 10 years and has since been living in the DeWitt area. He worked for the House of Fabrics for 28 years and left there as Vice President of store operations. One of James biggest passion was his love for fishing. He also loved being involved with and supporting his grandchildren in their athletic and academic accomplishments. He was a huge Tigers and Spartan fan. The only time he would miss an MSU football game is when he was fishing. James is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Irene DeClue. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, of 46 years, Linda (Julseth); daughter Jill Hartwig, of Lansing; son Chris (Colleen) Hartwig, of Plymouth, MI; grandchildren Gerrit, Grant, Lauren and Marisa; sister Patricia (Richard) Kurtzeborn; brother Gregory DeClue: father-in-law Maynard Julseth; sisters-in-laws Donna (Dennis) Giese, Barbara (George) Sande, Marjorie (Ralph) Rouille, Janeil Price; brother-in-law Phillip (Barbara) Julseth and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012, at 10:00am at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 26, 2012, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00p.m. at the Chapel. Contributions in Mr. Hartwig’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
